Dr Dirk Haft is the new CEO

IBC SOLAR starts the year with a change in the company's leadership. At the end of 2023, founder and CEO Udo Möhrstedt moved to the supervisory board. Since 01 January 2024, Dr Dirk Haft is our new Chairman of the Board.

Udo Möhrstedt:

Well positioned for the future

With the change in leadership, IBC SOLAR reaffirms its growth path and also its role as a leading company in the solar industry.

Dr Haft has been closely associated with the IBC SOLAR Group for many years and already took on the role of Co-CEO in 2022. Before that, he was a member of the Supervisory Board. Before his appointment to the management of IBC SOLAR, Dr Haft gained extensive experience in various board positions in the semiconductor industry and mechanical engineering, in the latter area on the board of Wittenstein SE.

In addition to Dr Haft, three other experienced members complete the board of IBC SOLAR: Lars Degendorfer (CFO), Stefan Horstmann (COO) and Patrik Danz (CSO).

All signs point to growth in 2024

One of IBC SOLAR's plans for 2024 is to support its premium partners even more with the help of comprehensive digital solutions to make installations even easier. With the aim of growing faster than the market, IBC SOLAR is optimistic about the future.

Our company history since being founded in 1982

1982 - Year established

Udo Möhrstedt founded International Battery Consulting, or IBC for short. Later, it became IBC Solartechnik. As one of the pioneers, he thus laid the foundation for the development of solar energy in Germany.

1986 - Co-founding of the "PV Symposium"

The key players in the energy revolution are networking. Udo Möhrstedt and other solar contractors establish the "photovoltaic solar energy symposium" at Banz Abbey.

1992 - Pioneer of e-mobility

Together with colleagues, Udo Möhrstedt converted a total of five VW Polos to electric vehicles. The Electric Fox drove through Upper Franconia at a maximum speed of 105 km/h.

1998 - Own brand launch

IBC Solartechnik releases the first solar modules under the name Megaline as their own brand.

2000 - New name: IBC SOLAR AG

IBC Solartechnik is given a new name and becomes a stock corporation. The company will operate as IBC SOLAR AG from now on.

2001 - Own brand mounting system

The first in-house mounting system for pitched roofs, then under the name Megaline (now TopFix), completed the IBC SOLAR product portfolio.

2004 - Energy transition in the hands of citizens

The first solar park for locally resident citizens was established in Eurishofen in the Allgäu.

2007 - In-house open-area test facility

To check and ensure product quality, a dedicated open-air test facility was created. On an area of over 3,000 square meters, the modules undergo long-term tests under real environmental conditions.

2009 - Extensive PV Test Laboratory

Modules and mounting systems are evaluated and thoroughly tested in a unique and now independent test laboratory. With the tests in the PV test laboratory SUNLAB, IBC SOLAR continues its high quality standards.

2011 - Year of storage

Shortly after each other, the company first introduced a lead and soon thereafter a lithium-ion storage under the IBC SOLAR brand to the market. In addition, the first large-scale storage, in the form of a neighborhood storage, was put into operation.

2012 - In-house training center

In the Competence Center, IBC SOLAR offers its installation partners extensive seminars and webinars on innovations, regulatory affairs, products, planning, installation, and expert advice.

2017 - Member of the United Nations Global Compact

With its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact, the company has committed itself to report transparently on activities and to pursue the vision of a resource-saving and sustainable global economy.

2022 - 40 years of pioneering sustainability

40 years ago, Udo Möhrstedt started with a revolutionary vision at the time: He wanted to use the energy of the sun to generate electricity with IBC SOLAR. And we are doing this with a strong vision for the future: "We create energy autonomy & emission freedom through easy access to the infinite energy of the sun - for a world worth living in."

2024 - A new generation at IBC SOLAR

Founder and CEO Udo Möhrstedt moves to the supervisory board on 01 January 2024 and Dr Dirk Haft takes over as Chairman of the Board at IBC SOLAR.
